How to Back Up and Restore Your Legion TD ELO

Your Legion TD Map ELO represents a lot of time, improvement, and completed games. Legion Ladder can build a protected history of that rating while you play, then guide eligible players through recovery if their local ELO is unexpectedly reset or lost.

Why might Legion TD ELO need to be restored?

Legion TD Map ELO can be affected when you move to a new computer, lose or replace Warcraft III data, suffer a damaged save, or play a modified map that does not behave like the official release. A new computer may initially treat you like a new player even though you built a much higher rating elsewhere.

Fake or modified maps are especially risky because a familiar lobby name or filename does not prove that the map itself is genuine. An altered map can interfere with the player data the official map expects and may leave you with a reset or incorrect ELO.

How Legion Ladder ELO protection works

Legion Ladder automatically creates recovery points while you use the desktop app and play Legion TD. It also builds a history of the ELO values associated with your BattleTag. Normal wins and losses form a gradual pattern; a sudden fall from a long-established rating to a new-player value looks very different.

Recovery is not an editable ELO field. You cannot type the rating you want or choose an old peak simply because it was higher. Legion Ladder reviews whether the available recovery point fits the player’s trusted history and whether the current value looks like a genuine reset rather than ordinary rating movement.

Build your recovery eligibility

1. Install the current Legion Ladder app. Download it from the Legion Ladder App Guide and keep it updated.
2. Run Legion Ladder whenever you play. Regular use gives the app more opportunities to build a consistent history for your BattleTag.
3. Play genuine Legion TD maps. Check the Live Lobby map status before the match begins. A verified result means the selected lobby map matches the supported official file.
4. Let your history develop naturally. Completed matches and repeated, consistent ELO observations make a future recovery request easier to distinguish from an attempt to gain rating unfairly.
5. Check the Backup tab. It shows whether Legion Ladder has protected data available and explains any action needed from you.

How to restore your Legion TD ELO

1. Open Legion Ladder and select the Backup tab.
2. Review the recovery point, BattleTag, eligibility status, and remaining recovery allowance shown by the app.
3. Choose the recovery option and follow the identity prompts. On a new computer, Legion Ladder may ask you to enter a live lobby and receive confirmation from another player who is also running Legion Ladder.
4. When instructed, leave the lobby and close Warcraft III. The game must not be using its player files while they are being restored.
5. Confirm the approved recovery, then relaunch Warcraft III and Legion Ladder. The Backup tab will report whether the restoration completed successfully.

Who is eligible for ELO recovery?

Eligibility grows with trustworthy Legion Ladder history. The recovery point must belong to the same BattleTag, the earlier rating must be supported by consistent observations, and the new lower value must look like a reset instead of a normal loss streak. Restores are limited so the feature remains a recovery tool, not a way to repeatedly undo match results.

A brand-new installation with no prior Legion Ladder history cannot prove that a claimed high rating belongs to that player. That is why it is worth running Legion Ladder before anything goes wrong—not only after an ELO has already disappeared.

How map verification helps prevent resets

Legion Ladder checks the actual map selected by the Warcraft III lobby and shows whether it matches the currently supported Legion TD map. Map verification reduces the chance of playing a fake or modified map. If an ELO reset still happens because of a computer failure, lost data, or a bad map, established Legion Ladder users have a second layer of protection through the guided ELO recovery system.

What ELO recovery will not do

• It will not restore an arbitrary number entered by the player.
• It will not erase legitimate losses or return every player to their highest-ever rating.
• It will not approve a different BattleTag’s recovery point.
• It cannot guarantee recovery when no trustworthy history was built before the reset.
• It does not make a modified map safe to play; leave a lobby when the map verification warning appears.
